Coke v. Pepsi

http://www.slate.com/articles/business/rivalries/2013/08/pepsi_paradox_why_people_prefer_coke_even_though_pepsi_wins_in_taste_tests.html

coke:
"a product so culturally iconic that across a significant swath of the United States it serves as a generic term for what decent people call “soda”"
- shows that it coke is so popular and embedded in our society and pop culture that its basically a norm for us to drink coke.

"For the past 25 years, Coke advertising has focused on the brand first and foremost."
-shows that coke is mainly selling the name of the soda not as focused on advertising the taste of it

pepsi:
" It really is true that blind taste tests suggest that people like it better than Coke."
-shows that in tests pepsi is preferred because of its taste

"And while we want something sweet, we don’t necessarily want that kind of long-term relationship with something too sweet."
-shows how although people may like pepsi's taste in a blind taste test, people still continue to buy coke because its a norm taste of soda we want to drink
